Definition
An Oregon CCB license is the contractor license issued by the Oregon Construction Contractors Board. Oregon law requires anyone paid for construction work that improves real property to hold one, backed by a surety bond and general liability insurance. Each license has a public number homeowners can check on the CCB's online License Search.
Also called: Construction Contractors Board license, CCB number
Why it matters to you
A Washington contractor registration does not cover jobs in Portland, Gresham or Troutdale, so a company working both sides of the river needs an Oregon CCB license as well. Portland's mechanical permit applications must list the contractor's CCB number, and Home Energy Group's is CCB# 184255.
Practical guidance
Search the contractor's name or number on the CCB License Search and confirm the license is active before you sign. The CCB's own advice is blunt: anyone can pretend to be a contractor, so check licenses.
